Job summary

Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, PA seeks Ultrasound Technologists (Sonographers) to perform diagnostic imaging under licensed supervision. Certification paths include ARDMS/ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI, with ARDMS preferred. Role emphasizes ALARA safety, patient identification and data accuracy.

Full-time, 36 hours weekly with a rotation schedule. A sign-on bonus is available for eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• Graduate from Specialty Training Program (Required).
• Minimum of 1 year related work experience (Preferred).
• Certified Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) or ARRT/CCI credentials as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Ensures correct order and patient identification before exam; documents clinical history with confidentiality.
• Uses appropriate imaging protocols; maximizes patient safety per ALARA principles.
• Prepares and administers medications via vascular access as prescribed; follows policy.
• Evaluates image quality and ensures proper storage/transfer of data; post-processes data as needed.
• Educates and monitors students and other health care staff.
• Collaborates with licensed practitioner for interventional procedures.
• Ensures equipment parameters meet diagnostic/ interventional needs; maintains quality.
• Performs diagnostic/interventional sonographic procedures as prescribed.
• Reviews symptoms and medical history to determine appropriate exam.
• Evaluates orders to schedule patient exams accurately.
• Performs noninvasive vascular tests (if applicable).
• Provides preliminary interpretation of results when applicable; communicates findings to provider.
