Responsibilities

Conduct investigations, surveillance, and arrests with other police personnel.
Enforce City of Hampton and Virginia laws and ordinances.
Investigate suspicious conditions to determine probable cause for arrest.
Respond to criminal complaints and take corrective action.
Perform preliminary investigations and assist other investigative staff.
Conduct detailed follow-up investigations and manage evidence, interviews, and possible arrests.
Assist in prosecuting cases and file reports with the Commonwealth's Attorney.
Provide information to the public regarding laws and ordinances.
Review case reports for completeness and data quality.
