Job summary

Ector County Independent School District in Odessa, TX seeks a Special Education Auditory Impaired Aide (certified interpreter) to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students in a Regional Day School for the Deaf.

This full-time, non-exempt role interprets between spoken and signed language, assists teachers, and helps students develop language and study skills in a collaborative classroom setting.

Qualifications

• 60 college hours minimum.
• BEI Interpreter Certification required.
• Knowledge of Signing Exact Language (SEE).

Responsibilities

• Assist instruction of auditorily-impaired students using signed language and amplification.
• Interpret for students in mainstream classes as needed.
• Support language, thinking and independent skills development.
• Assist with speech practices and auditory training for students.
• Maintain classroom materials and assist with records as directed.
