Job summary

REGIONAL DEAF SCHOOL in Odessa, Texas, seeks a Teacher for the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will provide an educational program incorporating academic, speech-language and listening skills for Deaf/hard-of-hearing students, aligned with IEP goals and appropriate curriculum adaptations.

The role requires certification as a Teacher of Deaf/Hard of Hearing and the ability to communicate with students using sign language.

Qualifications

Bachelor or Master's degree in Deaf Education.
Certification as a Teacher of Deaf/Hard of Hearing per TEA regulations.
Ability to communicate with deaf students through sign language.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

Responsibilities

Cooperate with other staff members in planning and implementing the instructional program as outlined in the IEP for his/her students.
Diagnose and assess student needs regarding the instruction to develop an appropriate IEP.
Promote effective student communication through the development of speech, language, signed language and listening skills.
Utilize teaching techniques and classroom strategies to accommodate various learning styles and modes of his/her students.
Assist in the selection of programs, equipment, and materials to meet the needs of his/her students.
Promote and maintain regular, positive, and effective communication with parents.
