The City of Portland is seeking a full-time Housing Safety Code Enforcement Officer to ensure compliance with building standards and promote safe housing. The role involves independent fieldwork and collaboration within the team, focusing on building positive relationships with landlords and tenants.
Join a dynamic team dedicated to enhancing the safety and quality of life for Portland’s residents, visitors, and workers. The City’s Permitting and Inspections Department is seeking a full-time Housing Safety Code Enforcement Officer responsible for ensuring compliance with the Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code (MUBEC), National Fire Protection Association Codes (NFPA), Zoning, and other applicable building standards related to the inspection of residential rental properties. In partnership with various regulatory agencies, the code enforcement officer will share responsibilities to promote safe housing. The position involves working independently in the field and collaboratively within the Licensing and Housing Safety Division team, which includes three other inspectors. Building positive relationships with landlords and tenants is essential, alongside ensuring the safety of rental housing.
