PENNDOT Certified Bridge Inspector
We are seeking a highly qualified and detail-oriented Bridge Inspector with MBIS certification, a strong PennDOT background, and NECEPT certifications to perform structural inspections on highway bridges throughout the region. This role is critical in ensuring the ongoing safety, compliance, and maintenance of transportation infrastructure in accordance with PennDOT standards.
Conduct routine and special inspections of highway bridges and related structures across the designated inspection area.
Evaluate bridge conditions using PennDOT and FHWA guidelines, documenting structural integrity, deterioration, and maintenance needs.
Prepare clear, concise inspection reports using PennDOT-approved software and formatting.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local bridge inspection protocols.
Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and PennDOT personnel to coordinate inspections and address identified issues.
Safely access structures using climbing equipment, ladders, bucket trucks, and under-bridge inspection units as required.
Maintain records of inspection schedules and certification requirements.
MBIS (Municipal Bridge Inspection System) Certified
PennDOT Bridge Inspection experience required
NECEPT certifications (e.g., Concrete, Bituminous, Soils & Aggregate) strongly preferred
Knowledge of PennDOT ECMS, BMS2/3, and inspection report processes
Ability to interpret engineering plans and specifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various inspection sites throughout the region
Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to safety and compliance
Self-motivated and reliable with excellent time management skills
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team in field environments
