Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC Health) is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) to join our Sports Medicine team on a PRN basis. You will evaluate athletes, develop rehabilitation plans, coordinate care with physicians, and serve as a MUSC Health brand ambassador while supporting student athletes, coaches, and families across Lancaster and Chester counties.

• Graduate of an accredited college or university with a BS/BA in Athletic Training.
• Master's degree in Athletic Training preferred.
• Certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).

• Evaluate athletes and develop individual athletic training and rehabilitation programs.
• Conduct athlete intake assessments and maintain medical records.
• Coordinate schedules, treatment plans, and follow-up care with the Sports Medicine Coordinator.
• Communicate with physicians and other clinical teams to ensure coordinated care.

Job Description

In this role, you’ll play a key part in providing high-quality athletic training and rehabilitation services while building meaningful relationships with student athletes, coaches, Athletic Directors, parents, physicians, and healthcare teams throughout Lancaster and Chester counties.

What You'll Do

• Evaluate athletes and develop, direct, and administer individualized athletic training and rehabilitation programs.
• Conduct athlete intake assessments and maintain accurate medical records in the electronic medical record.
• Coordinate athlete schedules, treatment plans, and follow-up care in collaboration with the Sports Medicine Coordinator.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and other clinical disciplines to ensure seamless, coordinated care.
• Build trust and serve as a MUSC Health brand ambassador with coaching staffs, Athletic Directors, student athletes, and parents.
• Identify healthcare concerns and recommend appropriate solutions to support athlete health, safety, and performance.
• Attend practices, games, tournaments, and special events as needed.
• Participate in annual conferences and MUSC Health staff meetings.
• Assist with departmental operations, including budgets, supply restocking, inventory, and other clerical responsibilities.
• Provide coverage throughout Lancaster and Chester counties based on organizational needs.

Additional Job Description

What We're Looking For

Education

• Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree (BS/BA).
• Master's degree in Athletic Training preferred.
• Certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association.

Licensure & Certification

• Current Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC) certification.
• Current certification/licensure as an Athletic Trainer in South Carolina through DHEC.

Schedule & Availability

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator who can adapt verbal and non-verbal communication to effectively interact with a diverse range of individuals, from school-age adolescents and adults to other healthcare professionals.
