Job description

Responsibilities

The Certified Athletic Trainer (AT) reports to the Sports Medicine Manager and will be assigned to a high school. The AT will provide community‑based point of service for sports‑related prevention, care, coverage, rehabilitation, referral, and marketing for musculoskeletal injuries and sports‑related ailments within a defined environment for athletes of various ages.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited college with a BS/BA (Master's in Athletic Training preferred).
  • A board certification by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC) and licensure as an Athletic Trainer in South Carolina by DHEC.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or an AHA‑recognized equivalent; or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider).
  • Ability to adjust communication to interact effectively with school‑age adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Weekend and evening availability to cover practices, games, tournaments, and special events.
Physical Requirements
  • Continuous ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Infrequent ability to climb stairs and work in temperature extremes outdoors.
  • Frequent ability to work from elevated areas, in confined/cramped spaces, from kneeling positions, and to perform pinching operations.
  • Continuous ability to bend, twist, and reach overhead.
  • Frequent ability to squat, lift up to 50 lbs unassisted, and lift objects 50 lbs from or to 36 inches.
  • Continuous ability to perform gross and fine motor tasks, maintain vision and hearing acuity with correction, and handle stressful situations.
  • Frequent ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, in a latex‑safe environment, and to use a respirator when required.
Additional Information

Graduate of an accredited college with a BS/BA (Master's degree in Athletic Training preferred). Certification by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC) and Licensure as an Athletic Trainer by the SCLLR Board of Medical Examiners. Must be able to adjust communication both verbal and non‑verbal to interact appropriately and effectively with a wide variety of age groups including school‑age adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Weekend and evening hours to cover practices, games, tournaments, and special events. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
