Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a Certified Athletic Trainer (AT) - PRN to provide flexible coverage for local teams and events. Reporting to the Sports Medicine Manager, you will join a team supporting high schools, clubs, and colleges, and assist in tournaments and community sports activities.

Under physician and allied health supervision, you will apply your AT expertise, respond to varying ages from youth to adults, and commit to weekend and evening shifts as needed to

• Graduate of an accredited college with a BS/BA; Master’s degree in Athletic Training preferred.
• BOC certification and Licensure as an Athletic Trainer by the SCLLR Board.
• Must be able to adjust communication for a wide age range.
• Weekend and evening hours to cover practices, games, tournaments, and events.

• Provide PRN athletic trainer coverage for local high school, club, collegiate, or professional teams, and for local tournaments and community events.
• Operate under general supervision of physician, physical therapist, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited college with a BS/BA. (Master’s degree in Athletic Training preferred).
• Certification by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC) and Licensure as an Athletic Trainer by the SCLLR Board of Medical Examiners.
• Must be able to adjust communication both verbal and non-verbal to interact appropriately and effectively with a wide variety of age groups including school age adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
• Weekend and evening hours to cover practices, games, tournaments, and special events.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
