Qualifications

  • CAA certification required by NCCAA.
  • Eligible for Ohio state licensure as Anesthesiologist Assistant.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist anesthesiologists in planning and delivering anesthesia care.
  • Conduct preoperative assessments and explain anesthesia plans to patients and families.
  • Monitor vital signs, adjust anesthesia, and document intraoperative events.
  • Support airway management and pain control procedures.
  • Participate in postoperative evaluation, recovery handoffs, and quality initiatives.
  • Ensure proper use and troubleshooting of anesthesia equipment.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and allied health staff to promote patient outcomes.

Job description

The University of Cincinnati seeks a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant to provide high‑quality anesthesia care within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. Working under the direction of staff anesthesiologists, you will conduct preoperative assessments, assist with induction and maintenance of anesthesia, monitor patient status, and support postoperative recovery. Roles and Responsibilities
  • Assist anesthesiologists in planning and delivering safe anesthesia care for surgical and procedural patients
  • Conduct preoperative assessments, obtain histories, and explain anesthesia plans to patients and families
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs, adjust anesthetic levels under supervision, and document intraoperative events
  • Support airway management, vascular access, and pain control procedures per protocol
  • Participate in postoperative evaluation, recovery room handoffs, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment
  • Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and allied health staff to promote optimal patient outcomes
