Job summary

The Ohio State University Medical Center seeks an Anesthesiologist Assistant to join the Specialty Care | Health System. The AA will function as an integral member of the patient care team, delivering anesthesia services and contributing to quality outcomes.

Responsibilities include managing complex anesthesia cases, staff education, and clinical research while following Medical Center guidelines and state statutes.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited anesthesia assistant program (18–24 months).
  • Current NCCAA certification.
  • Current licensure from the Ohio State Medical Board.
  • Current ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide anesthesia case management as a certified anesthesia assistant.
  • Collaborate with an MDA in anesthetic care for each patient.
  • Engage in staff education and clinical research as part of the anesthesia team.
  • Maintain compliance with departmental policies, state regulations and credentialing requirements.

Scope of Position

The Ohio State University Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality of care our patients receive. The AA functions as an integral Member of the patient care team, whose members reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team provides patient care and supportive services that are directed toward the achievement of quality patient care outcomes, improvement of service levels, reduction in length of hospitalizations and reduction of cost.

Position Summary

The AA is a certified non-physician anesthesia provider who demonstrates excellence in all areas of anesthesia practice including but not limited to anesthesia case management, staff education and clinical research. The AA manages complex, unpredictable anesthesia situations. The AA must be competent in technical, cognitive and interpersonal skills required to serve those patients receiving anesthesia care and services. The AA is expected to practice within the established Medical Center guidelines, statutes established by the state medical board, anesthesia, (policies, procedures, protocols), and adhere to the Intensive Caring Value Statements. The AA works as a member of the patient care team and collaborates with an MDA in the anesthetic care of each and every patient.

Minimum Qualifications For Hire
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited school for anesthesia assistants (18month or 24month program).
  • Current certification from the NCCAA.
  • Current licensure from the Ohio State Medical Board.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Must be eligible to obtain clinical privileges as designated by the OSUMC Corporate Credentialing Office.
  • On going: Must maintain the following NCCAA Certification, Ohio State Medical Board Licensure, (3)ACLS certification, (4)Clinical credentials with OSUMC Corporate Credentialing.
