Job summary

WesleyLife is seeking an Aide in Training in Des Moines, IA. This role serves as a pathway into Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training, with hands-on experience while preparing for CNA certification when slots are available.

You will work with residents in a warm, home‑like environment, supporting light personal care, housekeeping, and daily activities. Training on safety, infection control, and PPE is provided, with opportunities for full-time, part-time, or PRN schedules.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide respectful care while preserving resident independence.
• Strong communication with residents, families, and team members.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain privacy.
• Willing to attend training and meetings.
• Commitment to obtaining CNA license within 90 days (paid by WesleyLife).
• Healthcare experience preferred but not required.

About the Role: Aide in Training

This role is hired as a Hospitality Assistant and designed as a pathway into Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training. CNA training is anticipated but not guaranteed within a specific timeframe. Team members in this role gain hands‑on experience while preparing for a future transition into CNA training once program availability is confirmed.

As a Aide In Training, You Will

• Engage with residents through light personal care, casual conversations, games, and social activities — help create a warm, home‑like environment.
• Hands‑on variety in your day: assist with housekeeping, laundry, and light grooming tasks that make a real difference in residents’ daily lives.
• Supportive team environment where you collaborate with nursing and care staff to ensure residents feel respected, clean, and cared for.
• Opportunities to build meaningful relationships — be a familiar, friendly face that residents and families come to trust and appreciate.
• Safety‑focused workplace with full training on protective equipment, infection control, and emergency procedures to keep everyone secure.

Qualifications

• Strong respect for seniors’ independence and good communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain privacy.
• Flexible and willing to attend training and meetings.

• Prior healthcare experience is preferred but not required.

Compensation & Flexibility

• The starting pay rate will be based on years of experience.
• Shift Differentials: 2nd Shift-$3.00/hr, 3rd Shift-$4.00/hr and Weekends-$1.00/hr
