Job summary

Deer Meadows is seeking an Activities Director to lead and grow our activity program for residents. You will plan, organize, and direct activities that promote physical, mental, and social well-being, while coordinating with other departments.

Requires an activities/recreation certification, a Bachelor’s degree or relevant long-term care experience, and CPR/First Aid within 90 days. Join a team that supports staff and residents with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Monitor resident health and provide progress reports to caregivers.

The Activities Director plans, organizes, develops and directs the overall operation of the Activity Department. Assures that an on-going program of activities is designed to meet the interests; physical, mental and psychosocial well being of each resident.

• Develops and maintains a good working rapport with other departments in the facility to assure that administrative services and activities can be properly supported.
• Ensures compliance of current federal and state regulations as well as professional standards for the facility and activities program.
• Maintaining a calendar of activities and effectively communicating it to residents
• Assists in the development, administration and coordination of department policies and procedures
• Coordinating and communicating with staff members
• Overseeing group activities
• Posting a monthly calendar of events
• Arranging travel to off-site activities
• Ensuring that staff and participants follow all safety protocols
• Submitting budgetary recommendations for equipment and supplies
• Monitoring patient health and providing reports to caregivers
• Ensures all charted activity progress notes are informative, descriptive, accurate and current.

Requirements

• Must be activities/ recreation certified
• Bachelors degree or relevant experience, minimum three years experience in long term care.
• CPR and First Aid are required within 90 days of employment, as provided by DMRC, to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and care standards.
• Physical Requirements: Employee must be physically and mentally able to perform essential job functions which may require constant standing and walking; some lifting up to 50 pounds, and pushing carts and wheelchairs. Verbal ability to orient services to residents of varying abilities of mental and physical functioning and interests.
