Job summary

YAD Healthcare in Elizabeth City, NC is hiring an Activities Director to plan and oversee the Activities Department, delivering programs that meet residents' physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs.

The role involves supervising staff, coordinating with care teams, keeping within budget, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Strong interpersonal skills and LTC experience required; ADC certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• ADC certification (NCCAP) or eligibility required.
• Experience as Activity Director in a Long Term Care setting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the activity department operations including supervision of staff and policy implementation.
• Develop and implement activity programs to meet residents' physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
• Manage department budget within approved guidelines and regulations.
• Observe attendance, participation and behavior; document changes.
• Attend care plan meetings and provide observations on residents' needs and preferences.
• Welcome new residents and assist with their arrival.
• Perform administrative tasks such as charting, care planning, and reports, including MDS portions.
• Assist with recruitment and selection of Activity staff.

Education

Summary / Objective

In keeping with our organization's goal of improving the lives of the Residents we serve, the Director of Activities is responsible for the planning, development and overall operation of the Activities Department which implements and directs activity programs that meet the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of Residents.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for the overall operations of the facility’s Activity Department which includes supervision of staff, development and implementation of departmental policy and procedures, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, local regulations.
• Regularly develops new programs to meet new trends and industry standards.
• Responsible for operating the Activities department within budgetary guidelines and limitations.
• Observe and report Resident’s attendance, participation, and behavior changes by documenting and charting.
• Participates in the care planning process by attending care plan meetings, providing specific information and observations of the Resident’s needs, preferences and report any behavioral changes.
• Meet and great all new Residents and residents upon arrival to the facility.
• Performs administrative tasks such as charting, care planning, reports and etc. Completes assigned MDS portions accurately and on time.
• Assists with the recruitment and selection of Activity staff.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position may have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Highschool Diploma/Equivalent
• Be certified or eligible for certification as an activity director certified (ADC) by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals
• Activity Director Experience in a Long Term Care Setting
