Job summary

HRI Properties is seeking a Compliance Certification Specialist for our HRIM team in New Orleans to manage move-in files, conduct interviews, complete background checks, and coordinate third-party verifications. You will prepare documentation for lease and certification signing and ensure timely processing.

Ideal candidates have strong regulatory experience, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Some weekend hours may be required as part of this role.

Qualifications

  • Compliance experience in the related industry.
  • Ability to operate on a deadline-driven schedule and prioritize various tasks.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to comply with regulatory agreements and possess critical thinking, evaluation, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of LIHTC, HOME, and HUD programs is a plus. Compliance certification such as COS or HCCP is preferred.
  • Availability to work some weekends and extended hours.
  • Self-starter who can effectively multitask.

Responsibilities

  • Process all recertifications and interims by conducting household interviews and ensuring all information is correctly listed and documented on recertifications.
  • Obtain third-party verifications, track responses, and submit files for approval.
  • Prepare files appropriately for lease and certification signing.
  • Begin processing the recertification 120 days before the recertification effective date.
  • Send annual recertification notices to tenants and follow up as required until recertification is completed, which includes conducting home visits.
  • Ensure that all recertifications are completed at least 30 days before lease expiration.
  • Maintain digital and paper files so they are always properly maintained.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date status of transfer waiting lists and eviction tracker.
  • Upload/enter all required information in Yardi and Elite, HANO’s public housing monitoring system.
  • Track unit inspections and be available to conduct unit inspections as needed.
  • Assist property staff with answering property phone lines.
  • Create work orders when a resident notifies your office of maintenance issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk, working on a computer, standing, walking, conducting tours, and meeting with tenants.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, position, or move up to 20 lbs. at a time.
  • Requires manual dexterity with normal hand/finger movement and coordination.
  • Ability to walk for long periods, including climbing flights of stairs in various weather conditions.
