ALTEN Technology USA is seeking an experienced Certification & Compliance Engineering Expert to lead regulatory compliance and guide product development. The role requires extensive expertise in certification processes and strong leadership skills to mentor colleagues. Located in Hagerstown, Maryland, this position offers a salary range of $80,000 to $85,000 based on experience and qualifications.

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Certification & Compliance Engineering Expert with a strong background in managing type approval, compliance, and homologation processes. The ideal candidate will possess deep subject matter expertise, strong project leadership capabilities, and a proven track record in navigating complex regulatory landscapes. This individual will be a strategic thinker and natural mentor, capable of aligning technical work with broader business and industry trends. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required.
Responsibilities;
Coordinate and manage all certification, compliance, and homologation activities and deliverables for new product development and maintenance projects.
Ensure timely delivery of type approvals for components, systems, and vehicles in alignment with project timelines.
Maintain legal documentation throughout the product lifecycle in response to regulatory authority requirements.
Serve as the organizational reference for legal interpretation in regulated product-related areas.
Communicate certification/compliance/homologation status internally and with external type approval authorities and technical services.
Lead negotiations with type approval authorities and technical services regarding legal interpretations and certification matters.
Drive the development and continuous improvement of certification and compliance processes, methodologies, and tools across the organization.
Contribute to product strategy and project roadmaps by integrating regulatory insights with technical and business objectives.
Provide coaching, mentorship, and knowledge sharing to colleagues across disciplines.
Qualifications;
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in certification, compliance, or homologation within a technical product development environment.
Recognized expert in Certification & Compliance Engineering, with demonstrated experience as a project lead.
Proven ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements.
Strong cross-functional communication and negotiation skills, especially with regulatory bodies.
Established mentor and coach, with a T-shaped profile: deep expertise with a broad understanding of related disciplines.
Demonstrated capability to link technical execution with strategic business goals.
Must be able to work fully onsite in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $85,000
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
