Job summary

Bend Park & Recreation District is seeking experienced ceramics instructors to teach engaging classes for youth and adults in Bend, Oregon. Instructors should bring expertise in wheel throwing, hand building, sculpture, glazing, and firing techniques while fostering a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Duties include developing lesson plans, preparing materials, instructing classes, and monitoring participants.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; college coursework or vocations training with emphasis in related field preferred.
• Two years of professional level experience in area of specialty area; or some teaching experience.
• Ability to develop and present lessons and curriculum for ceramics classes.

Responsibilities

• Instructs assigned classes and activities.
• Plans, Organizes and implements curriculum based on program objectives.
• Oversees safety, comfort and progress of participants.
• Develops rapport with participants and responds to questions and concerns.
• Collaborates with staff to plan and schedule classes.
• Sets up and cleans up after class and manages supplies.
