Job summary

City of Orlando is seeking a part-time Instructor for the Orlando Pottery Studio to develop and teach clay classes for children and adults. Responsibilities include studio maintenance, kiln operations, glaze mixing, and assisting participants with registrations and project guidance.

Flexibility is required for nights and weekends; the role involves outdoor work and heat exposure, with supervision from a Cultural Arts Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification: High school graduate or two years’ ceramics experience.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Valid Florida driver license.
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Teach children’s and adult clay classes.
• Maintain studio operations including kiln loading, glaze mixing, and room loading; perform repairs and cleaning.
• Provide customer service including registrations, point of sale, and project advice.
• Monitor safe practices in the clay studio.
• Work with limited supervision under a Cultural Arts Coordinator.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
