Job summary

Fortinet, Inc. is seeking a Ceph Cluster Development & Operations Engineer to design, extend, and maintain enterprise Ceph storage clusters. You will work on core Ceph subsystems, optimize performance, and ensure reliability across multi-site data centers and Kubernetes environments.

You will collaborate with SREs and cloud infra teams to deliver secure, scalable storage solutions, build automation, and maintain detailed documentation for production operations.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with large-scale distributed systems and Ceph internals.
• Proficient in C++ and Linux system programming with debugging and profiling.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Rook-Ceph, Helm, and CI/CD tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate large-scale Ceph clusters (RADOS, RGW, RBD).
• Develop and extend Ceph core components in C++ (OSD, RGW, librados, BlueStore).
• Profile and optimize performance across network, disk I/O, and replication layers.
• Develop automation for cluster lifecycle management (deployments, upgrades, scaling, failover).
• Integrate Ceph with Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery.
• Implement multi-site replication and disaster recovery architectures.
• Develop secure storage solutions with dm-crypt and CephX auth.
• Build observability pipelines using Prometheus, Grafana, and exporters.
• Write SOPs, automation scripts, and system documentation for production ops.
• Collaborate with upstream Ceph or in-house forks for feature work.
