Job summary

Canonical is hiring a Software Engineer for Ceph & Distributed Storage. You’ll build modelling software to drive OpenStack, Ceph, and Kubernetes, focusing on distributed storage and scalable production systems.

You will work with a globally distributed team, contribute to operators and documentation, and occasionally travel for in-person collaboration. A strong background in Python and Ceph is essential, with curiosity and self-motivation as valued traits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM or similar.
• Experience writing modern, maintainable Python.
• Experience with Ceph storage.
• Interest in Linux, Kubernetes, Public cloud, OpenStack, LXC/LXD, Python, Go, Debian packaging.
• Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.

Responsibilities

• Write high quality Python and Golang software for Ceph and distributed storage.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team.
• Debug issues and deliver high quality code.
• Develop software for delivery, operations and lifecycle management of Ceph storage.
