Job summary

The State of South Dakota invites applications for the Chief Executive Officer of the South Dakota Council on Developmental Disabilities. This full-time role leads staff, coordinates leadership development, and ensures council activities align with federal laws and state plans.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Social Work or related field, experience with IDD services, and strong communication skills. Travel both in-state and out-of-state is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in developmental disabilities and grant/contract management.
• Ability to facilitate large groups or committees.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with state and federal systems affecting IDD services.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary staff support to the SD Council on Developmental Disabilities.
• Assist in leadership development for Council members and staff.
• Recruit, train and supervise Council personnel.
• Prepare annual State plans, reports and budgets per federal requirements.
• Oversee grants and contracts awarded by the Council.
