Job summary

Ohio State University Physicians (OSUP) is recruiting Patient Service Associates for our Centralized Hiring program. During a four-week training, you will rotate through multiple clinics and specialties, and with ongoing feedback, your manager will help place you in a permanent clinic.

The PSA position supports patients by answering phones, greeting visitors, scheduling appointments, handling payments, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year of healthcare customer service experience.
• Strong problem-solving and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong interpersonal skills to handle confidential situations.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors, registers and checks in patients, updates demographics and insurance in the system.
• Answers patient calls, relays messages, and communicates with referral offices.
• Handles check-out duties: co-pays, scheduling, after-visit summaries.
• Monitors patient wait times and notifies staff of delays.
• Opens and routes mail; distributes documents and supplies; records patient data as needed.
• Requests and handles referrals and medical records for new appointments.
• Schedules appointments as directed.
• Manages cash drawer and processes deposits when assigned.
• Contacts insurance providers for registrations or pre-certifications as needed.
• Performs tasks using job-related software and systems.
• Travel may be required to support other clinics.
• Attends to customers, colleagues, and supervisors with professionalism.
• Other duties or projects as assigned.
