Job summary

County of Orange is seeking experienced Plant Operating Engineers for the Central Utility Facility, operating, maintaining and repairing cogeneration equipment. The role involves HRSG boilers, turbines, cooling systems, water treatment and emissions monitoring, with emphasis on safety and reliability.

Ideal candidates will hold steam plant and refrigerant licenses, have utility trades background, and be able to work with SCADA/PLC systems while reporting clearly to supervisors and agencies.

Qualifications

• Steam plant and EPA refrigerant licenses desired.
• Knowledge of chillers, absorbers, water chemistry principles.
• Experience in utilities/public works trades and CUF operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate, service, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment in CUF.
• Maintain HRSG, boilers, gas turbines, cooling towers, water treatment systems.
• Monitor performance with SCADA/PLC; generate operation logs and reports.
• Ensure safety, accuracy and compliance; respond to emergencies.
• Coordinate with managers, engineers, and public agencies.
