Job summary

UC Irvine's Plant Operations and Maintenance team seeks an experienced operator for Central Plant responsibilities including operation, maintenance and repair of turbines, boilers, chillers, and electrical systems. The role emphasizes safety and reliability, with focus on log keeping and emergency response.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of power plant experience, strong hands-on skills in rigging, alignment, and equipment troubleshooting, plus a valid California driver's

Qualifications

• Rigging and lifting heavy equipment.
• Ability to align pumps, fans, and motors.
• Pipe fitting skills of all sizing (Blk. pipe, PVC, SS tubing).
• Ability to replace bearings and seals on pumps and motors.
• LOTO (Lock Out/Tag Out) experience.
• Operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair central plant equipment and systems.
• Knowledge of gas turbine engines and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of industry operation/maintenance practices.
• Ability to access and manipulate data and control equipment with PC systems.
• Ability to manage programs and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, service and repair Central Plant equipment and systems.
• Maintain accurate logs of equipment operation and maintenance; track time and materials.
• Provide emergency services and responsive campus customer communications.
• Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
