Job summary

Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV, is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to join a fast-paced, collaborative team. The role focuses on aseptic technique, instrument decontamination, and accurate documentation to support safe patient care.

Responsibilities include inspection, sterilization, inventory management, and collaboration with surgical teams. High school diploma required; CRCST certification within 18–24 months is preferred. This is a full-time, rotating position at our facility.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CRCST certification within 18–24 months of hire date or candidacy.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology helpful for instrument handling.
  • Experience in sterile processing or healthcare environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and sterile supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, decontaminate, assemble and sterilize instruments per guidelines.
  • Process and document sterile supplies daily with indicators per policy.
  • Monitor antimicrobial/disinfection solutions per manufacturer instructions.
  • Operate departmental equipment safely and according to specs.
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure supplies are stocked and tracked.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization cycles and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure availability of sterile supplies.
  • Provide customer service to departments with patient needs in mind.

How You'll Contribute

A Central Sterile Technician who excels in this role:

  • Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
  • Provides processing and documentation of all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
  • Provides monitoring and performance of antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and daily documentation.
  • Provides operation of departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
  • Provides management of inventory levels of sterile supplies, ensuring all items are properly stored, tracked, and replenished as needed.
  • Provides maintenance of accurate documentation of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory records.
  • Provides collaboration with surgical teams to ensure all necessary sterile supplies are available for upcoming procedures.
  • Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on patient needs.

What we're looking for
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licensures/Certifications

  • Knowledgeable in inventory management systems to track supplies efficiently.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions precisely while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail for quality assurance purposes.
