Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to maintain standards for surgical instrument sterilization, assembly and storage. You will collaborate with perioperative staff to ensure timely readiness of instrument sets and case carts, while upholding high quality and safety in a busy hospital setting.

Education includes a GED or HS diploma with CST certification preferred; 3 years of CST experience accepted if CST not held.

Qualifications

  • GED or High School Diploma required.
  • Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech program required or
  • 3 years of Central Sterile experience required if CST not held.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing surgical instruments.
  • Perform sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Collaborate with Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets and case carts.
  • Maintain workflow and provide excellent customer service.

Assists in maintaining consistent and continuous work flow, providing superior customer service.

Education

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required and
  • Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech Required or
  • In Lieu of CST Certificate, 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required

Work Experience

  • 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required or
  • No experience required if incumbent has a Central Sterile Tech certification Required

Licenses and Certifications

  • None Required
  • CCST - Certified Central Service Technician Preferred or
  • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Preferred
