Job summary

Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Central Sterile Tech (CS Tech) to support instrument processing and patient care across the hospital. You will decontaminate, sterilize, assemble and distribute sterile instruments in a fast-paced acute care setting.

You will follow AAMI, AORN, TJC and OSHA guidelines, document sterilization using indicators, and maintain organized storage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Central Sterile Technician (CSR) certification within 6 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must handle stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Collect, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, sterilize, store and distribute reusable surgical instruments and patient care equipment.
• Ensure instrument processing follows guidelines and standards (AAMI, AORN, TJC, OSHA, manufacturer guidance).
• Operate sterilization and departmental equipment safely per manufacturer instructions.
• Document sterile supplies using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to confirm proper sterilization.
• Monitor antimicrobial and disinfectant solutions daily and maintain logs.
• Maintain organized sterile storage areas and ensure supplies are available for patient care.
• Provide excellent customer service to surgical teams while supporting safe, timely care.
