Job summary

Garden City Hospital, part of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Central Sterile Technician for a Full Time role. The technician will decontaminate, prepare and sterilize trays, instruments and equipment, manage inventory and data entry, and support patient charging processes.

Strong communication and knowledge of department locations are essential. minimum education is a high school diploma; two years' experience is preferred, and BLS and Central Supply certifications are desirable.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent required for new hires.
• Two years’ experience as a Central Sterile Technician preferred.
• Central Supply Certified certification is preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate preferred.
• At least two years experience as a Central Sterile Technician required.
• Central Supply Certified certification required within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination, preparation and sterilization of Central Sterile trays and instruments.
• Handle equipment, inventory and restocking of supplies.
• Perform computer data entry and patient charge card batching as needed.
• Demonstrate knowledge of department locations and effective communication.

Responsibilities

The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for decontamination, preparation, sterilization of Central Sterile trays, instruments, equipment, inventory and restocking of supplies, computer data entry and patient charge card batching. Demonstrates knowledge of all department locations within facility and ability to access all departments. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates detailed awareness and knowledge of patient supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.

2. Two (2) years’ experience as a Central Sterile Technician in an acute care hospital setting preferred.

3. Central Supply Certified certification, preferred

4. Current BLS (AHA) certificate, preferred

Facility Specific Requirements (as applicable required):

5. At least two (2) years experience as a Central Sterile Technician required

6. Current BLS (AHA) certificate.

7. Central Supply Certified certification required

8. Central Supply Certified certification required within two years from date of hire at designated facilities
