Job summary

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a Central Sterile Technician to join the perioperative services team. The role involves assembling, sterilizing, and storing surgical instruments and supplies, and coordinating with Perioperative Nursing to prepare instrument sets and case carts accurately and promptly.

Education requirements include a high school diploma or GED; CST certification is preferred, or three years of central sterile experience.

Qualifications

• Education and/or CST certification required or equivalent experience.
• Experience in central sterile processing and instrument reprocessing preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with perioperative nursing staff to ensure timely sterile sets.

Responsibilities

• Maintains standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing surgical instruments.
• Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment.
• Collaborates with Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets and case carts in a timely manner.
• Maintains smooth workflow and delivers superior customer service.

3 years Central Sterile experience (in lieu CST certificate)

Responsibilities:

Maintains recommended standards for set assembly, decontamination, inspection, containerizing and sterilizing surgical instruments in an accurate and timely manner. Performs sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies and equipment. Collaborates with the Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets, equipment and case carts in an accurate and timely manner. Assists in maintaining consistent and continuous work flow, providing superior customer service.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required and
• Graduate of a Central Sterile Tech Required or
• In Lieu of CST Certificate, 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required

Work Experience

• 3 years of Central Sterile experience Required or
• No experience required if incumbent has a Central Sterile Tech certification Required

Licenses and Certifications

• None Required
• CCST - Certified Central Service Technician Preferred or
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Preferred
