Job Description - Central Sterile Processing Supervisor Full Time Evenings (2506001000)

Job Overview

The DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, Michigan’s first Level I Trauma Center, is renowned for pioneering emergency medicine and boasts one of the busiest and most well-equipped emergency departments. It houses the state’s first verified burn center, one of only 43 in the nation, along with a 24/7 hyperbaric oxygen program, a certified primary stroke center, and the DMC Rosa Parks Geriatric Center of Excellence.

Position Summary

The Supervisor will draft and interpret policies, develop procedures in collaboration with management, and monitor workflow quality and quantity. Responsibilities include personnel actions, performance appraisals, goal setting, budget development, and ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and hospital policies. The role also involves implementing audit recommendations and promoting supplier diversity.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of progressively responsible experience in Central Processing/Materials Management or related fields, including some leadership or supervisory experience
  • Preferred: Certification through NICHSPDP or IAHCSMM
Skills Required:
  • Analytical skills for defining procedures, applying judgment, interpreting policies, and monitoring goals
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with stakeholders, exercising discretion, and resolving conflicts
  • Leadership qualities including accountability, decision-making, coaching, and team-building
  • Technical knowledge of surgical instrumentation and patient care equipment
