Job description

DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, Michigan’s first Level I Trauma Center, has pioneered emergency medicine and boasts one of the busiest, most well-equipped emergency departments in the region. It is home to the state’s first and largest verified burn center, and is one of only 43 in the nation. The hospital also features a 24/7 hyperbaric oxygen program, Metro Detroit’s first certified primary stroke center, and the nationally recognized DMC Rosa Parks Geriatric Center of Excellence.

Summary:

This role involves drafting and interpreting department policies, developing procedures and protocols in collaboration with management, monitoring workflow quality and quantity, and recommending personnel actions. The position also includes performance management, goal setting and assessment, budget development, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and hospital policies, and implementing audit recommendations. The role supports departmental diversity objectives.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years of progressively responsible experience in Central Processing/Materials Management or related field, including some leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Certification through NICHSPDP or IAHCSMM preferred.

Skills Required:

  • Analytical skills to define procedures, oversee application of methods, interpret policies, and assess goal attainment.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with stakeholders, exercising discretion, conflict resolution, diplomacy, and listening skills.
  • Leadership skills demonstrated through pursuit of leadership roles, decision-making, coaching, teaching, and inspiring confidence in others.
  • Technical knowledge of surgical instrumentation and specialized patient care equipment.
