Job summary

University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center seeks a Central Sterile Processing Clinical Coordinator to lead education and operations across CSP departments.

You will train staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with perioperative teams to maintain instrument readiness and safety. The role requires CRCST certification, 5+ years in CSP, and 3+ years supervisory experience, with strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• CRCST certification through HSPA in good standing.
• Minimum 5 years in Central Sterile Processing.
• 3 years supervisory experience in CSP environment.
• Associate degree in a health-related field preferred.
• CER/CIS/CHL certifications preferred.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver's license with access to insured transportation.
• Ability to educate, coach, and support staff while managing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate staff orientation and annual competencies.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs.
• Provide coaching, remediation, and one-on-one support.
• Provide direct clinical supervision and serve as a resource.
• Support staff certification preparedness and review sessions.
• Maintain decontamination, disinfection, inspection, and sterilization standards.
• Support instrument management and inventory education.
• Audit staff training records and competency documentation.
• Assist CSP leadership with policies and PIs.
• Monitor compliance with Joint Commission, OSHA, and related standards.
• Collaborate with Perioperative Leadership to meet clinical needs.
• Support quality assurance, staff productivity, and infection control.
• Maintain flexibility to cover shifts, weekends when needed.
