Job summary

St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL, is seeking a Central Sterile Technician for the evening shift (3:00pm – 11:30pm). You will perform sterile processing, including decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of instruments to hospital departments and affiliates.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED (preferred) and about 1 year of sterile processing experience. CRCST certification is preferred or must be obtained within 18 months of employment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of nursing procedures, aseptic technique, medical terminology, and infection control preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of sterile instruments.
• Identify and remedy equipment failures and hazards to patient safety.
• Support quality assurance and infection control practices across departments and affiliates.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $19.50 - $28.28 A successful candidate's actual pay rate will be based on several factors including relevant experience, skills, training, certifications and education.

Performs a variety of sterile processing functions. Assures proper decontamination, quality assurance, sterilization of equipment and distribution of sterile surgical instrumentation to areas throughout the affiliate and outside service contracts to ensure quality patient care and safety. Identifies and remedies equipment failures and hazards posing potential risks to patients.

Education Qualifications

• WI-Certified and Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) is preferred.
• IL-Certified and Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) is required within 18 months of employment.
