Job summary

Wayne HealthCare in Greenville, OH, is seeking a Full Time Central Scheduling specialist for day shifts. The role handles scheduling for inpatient and outpatient appointments across multiple departments with no weekend requirements.

Responsibilities include contacting insurers for verification, precertification, and CPT coding to ensure proper scheduling and reimbursement. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and prior healthcare experience are preferred. An associate degree is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance plans; understanding of pre-certification, pre-determination, and medical necessity preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in health care field preferred.
  • Associates degree in Medical Office Administration or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule all inpatient and outpatient-scheduled appointments for laboratory, cardiopulmonary, and radiology departments from physicians, offices, patients and hospital staff.
  • Contact insurance companies for verification of benefits, pre-authorization, and follow up on precertification.
  • Handle CPT coding and patient needs related to diagnosis for scheduling and insurance reimbursement.
  • Analyze patient financial responsibilities and attempt collection at scheduling/precertification.
  • Offer financial counseling to patient if deemed necessary.
  • Provide special instructions for procedures and directions to facilities and departments; perform report reconciliation and charge verification in pulmonary and radiology departments.
  • Coordinate information with Case Management regarding pre-certification requirements for inpatient and outpatient surgeries.

This full time position will be for day shift working in Central Scheduling 40 hours weekly with no weekend requirements. This position is responsible for schedule of all inpatient and outpatient-scheduled assigned appointments. The individual will be cross-trained to multiple areas. This position reports to the Director of Central Scheduling.
