Telecom Installation Technician
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Duration: 3 months (Strong likelihood of extension; conversion to FTE possible based on performance and work volume)
Target Start Date: Early December
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible to 7–4 or 9–6)
Pay Rate: Based on experience
Overview
We’re seeking a motivated and reliable Telecom Installation Technician to support operations within a customer gateway/central office environment. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and an interest in hands‑on telecom or low‑voltage work. The role can flex from an entry‑level helper to a more technical position depending on the candidate’s background.
You’ll begin by working alongside a Site Lead who will train and assign tasks. Once ramped up, you will work more independently, helping free up the Lead CO Technician for additional site responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with telecom circuit testing, equipment installation, and DC power work.
- Support field installations, troubleshooting, and testing of network equipment.
- Work inside the customer’s gateway/central office to support daily operational tasks.
- Run cross‑connects/jumpers, perform card adds, tertiary power work, and rack‑and‑stack activities.
- Receive, organize, and manage materials and equipment in the warehouse space as needed.
- Track deliveries and ensure equipment is staged correctly for upcoming projects.
- Ride along with senior technicians to learn processes and provide hands‑on job site support.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Perform general labor or technical duties as assigned, ensuring quality, accuracy, and reliability.
Qualifications
- Telecom, electrical, or low‑voltage experience preferred but not required.
- Strong technical aptitude and eagerness to learn new skills.
- Experience with circuit testing, test equipment, equipment installation, and DC power is highly beneficial.
- Ability to lift and move equipment/materials as part of installation work.
- Dependable, proactive, and willing to take direction from senior technicians.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
