Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System in Boise, Idaho, is seeking a Central Processing Technician for Treasure Valley Labs. This part-time weekend shift includes Saturday 7:00 am to 2:45 pm and Sunday 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, and leverages phlebotomy/lab tech experience.

The role coordinates the central processing area, ensures specimen quality for in‑house and reference testing, and supports billing and EMR test ordering.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Some college education or associate degree preferred.
• Courses requiring lab work a plus.
• Prior experience working in a hospital setting or reference laboratory preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the central processing area of the clinical laboratory.
• Ensure quality and quantity of inpatient and outpatient specimens for in‑house testing and reference labs.
• Register patient specimens received from outside locations.
• Collaborate with TVL laboratories on all specimens received for testing.
• Assist clinical staff with laboratory test questions and EMR test ordering.

Position Summary & Highlights:

We are seeking for a Central Processing Tech for our Treasure Valley Labs located in Boise, Idaho. This is a Part time Weekend Shift. In this role you can make a difference by applying your current phlebotomy/Lab Tech experience and skills.

Saturday 7:00 am to 2.45 pm

Sunday 7:00 am to 7:30 pm

Our ideal candidate performs and coordinates the activities of the central processing area of the clinical laboratory. Accountable for quality and quantity of all inpatient and outpatient clinical laboratory specimens sent for in‑house testing and to reference laboratories. Responsible for billing functions for reference laboratories. Registers patient specimens received from outside locations. Works cooperatively with TVL laboratories for all specimens received for testing Serves as a resource for all clinical staff with regards to laboratory test questions. Serves as a resource for clinical staff with regards to ordering laboratory tests in the EMR. Reports directly to the POCT Laboratory Coordinator. Performs and coordinates the activities of the central processing area of the clinical laboratory. Accountable for quality and quantity of all inpatient and outpatient clinical laboratory specimens sent for in‑house testing and to reference laboratories.

Schedule: Part time, 20 hours per week
