Summary

This position is located on board Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, Texas with Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department. The purpose of this position is to verify and safeguard daily cash receipts, disbursements and daily bank deposits.

Duties

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Responsible for receiving and verifying daily cash receipts and comparing them with daily activity records (DAR's) to ensure all cash receipts and transactions are accounted for.
  • Consolidates daily cash receipts and prepares bank deposit and the Daily Activity Report Summary, ensuring timely deposit of all daily receipts.
  • Responsible for the change fund receipt log and sequentially numbered manual receipts.
  • Reconciles total cash receipts from the combined verified DARs prior to releasing the source documents to the accounting office.
  • Maintains cash shortages/overage log, monitoring closely for abuses of funds; notifying management immediately of discrepancies.
  • Gathers all documents (DARs, vendor invoices, timesheet/cards, work schedules, group bills, etc.) and forwards to the Regional Business Office.
  • Ensures that the safe combination is changed every 6 months or sooner as needed. Maintains a log of combination changes and briefs management when changes occur.
  • Conducts monthly training for staff in the following areas: customer service, theft prevention, robbery, cash handling procedures, processing credit card transactions, handling/acceptance of checks etc.
  • Performs a variety of other administrative duties as assigned.

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
  • May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
  • A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.
  • Must have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following
  • Must possess at least one year of general experience.
  • Must possess knowledge of the full range of basic cash handling procedures, regulations and computations including the ability to recognize and determine how much cash is needed to daily to make adequate change.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and written.
  • Must possess basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide accurately.

Experience: You must have one (1) year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position.

Education: You must have completed two (2) years (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) of education above high school in any field of study at an accredited college, university, junior college, or vocational school.
