Job summary

Centerless Grinder 2nd shift (North Hollywood) is a full-time position requiring setup and operation of centerless grinding equipment for auto and manual parts. The role demands precise measurement with micrometers, calipers and gauges, and strict adherence to tolerances.

The candidate should read blueprints, select proper tooling, run SPC and collect shop floor data. Overtime may be required; Saturdays could be needed depending on production demand.

Qualifications

• Ability to set-up and perform precision grinding operations independently and accurately.
• Knowledge of grinding TD, angle head and button head parts.
• Understanding of head protrusion gauging.
• Ability to perform hand feeding using a head stop for profile grinding.
• Setup and troubleshooting of loading systems for auto grinders.
• Select tooling and fixtures for grinding operations.
• Inspect parts for quality and tolerance with measuring tools.
• Determine proper feed and speed combinations.
• Record piece counts and run times.
• Recognize improper machine functioning and adjust as needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints/ overlays.
• Use SPC and shop floor data collection systems.
• Overtime may be required; Saturdays could be required.

Required skills include the ability to set-up and perform precision grinding operations independently and accurately within machine capacity and capability, to include:

• Having knowledge of grinding TD, angle head and button head parts and understanding of head protrusion gauging.
• Demonstrated ability to perform hand feeding using a head stop for profile grinding.
• Be proficient at setup and troubleshooting loading system for the auto grinders.
• Able to select tooling and fixtures pertaining to the grinding operation.
• Inspect parts for quality and appropriate tolerance using measuring tools such as micrometers, gauge blocks, protrusion gauge, millimes gauge, calipers, and comparators.
• Determine proper feed and speed combination.
• Record the piece count and run time of the production times.
• Able to recognize improper machine functioning and make required adjustments if possible.
• Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and overlays.
• Demonstrated ability to use SPC and shop floor data collection systems.
• Opportunity for Overtime. Saturdays may be required

1st shift 6:00 am to 2:30 pm / 2nd shift 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm

Additional Skills include:

• Ability to read, comprehend, and execute directions from mechanical drawings. Be able to measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
