Job summary

SpartanNash, located at 9375 Cherry Valley Ave SE in Caledonia, Michigan, seeks a department operations lead in a retail store to train associates, staff the department, and uphold company standards while achieving KPIs.

Responsibilities include inventory management, order validation, supervising stocking and production, maintaining product knowledge, executing plan flights, and ensuring safety and food-safety guidelines are followed.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate (Required) or Equivalent (GED).
• 0-2 years of retail experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and bookkeeping skills.
• Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with capability to work in a hands-on environment.
• Good strategic planning and business acumen skills.
• Good knowledge of retail store operations; knowledge of retail management systems.
• Suggestive Selling/Knowledge of Products preferred.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Depending on company location, ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day activities of department operations in a retail store.
• Order and maintain inventory in the department with proper markdowns.
• Review and validate received orders for amount, quality, count or weight.
• Manage a team to complete stocking, production, and related tasks.
• Maintain familiarity with products carried throughout the store and with ad items and deals.
• Communicate and execute weekly Flight Plans to meet goals and timelines.
• Assist in scheduling, labor control, and payroll expense planning.
• Follow safety, food safety, and cleaning guidelines consistently.
