Job summary

The Fresh Market is seeking a Center Store Department Lead to support the Center Store Department Manager in delivering an exceptional guest experience. You will help lead your team with care, coach colleagues, and ensure each department presents its best.

You'll work alongside the store leadership, supervise operations, monitor schedules, inventory, and merchandising, and step in as acting manager when needed. The role emphasizes hospitality, teamwork, and excellence across our store.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of progressive management experience in supermarkets, retail, restaurants, hotels, or general business.
• Strong leadership skills capable of motivating and developing teams.
• Proven ability to deliver exceptional guest experiences while meeting performance goals.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Basic proficiency with POS systems, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Monitor labor schedules to meet productivity and budget goals.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels, minimize shrink, and support ordering.
• Serve as a resource for team members in the manager's absence.
• Model and coach hospitality by engaging guests and creating positive experiences.
• Help implement merchandising strategies and promotional plans.
• Analyze department financial and performance metrics.
• Collaborate with department leaders to drive store success.
• Leverage available technology to perform these tasks.
