Job summary

U-Haul is seeking a General Manager to lead one of our moving and storage centers. You will keep the center profitable and efficient by hiring staff, overseeing inventory, and managing equipment. You will solve problems as they arise and drive operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes ownership of profitability, customer satisfaction, and staff development, with a focus on safety and continuous improvement throughout the center.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of management experience in retail or another service industry with responsibility for financial results and customer satisfaction.
• Computer skills required for daily operations and reporting.
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• P&L accountability and budget management experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Manage a moving and storage center ensuring profitability and efficiency.
• Hire and mentor staff, schedule shifts, and monitor performance.
• Track and itemize inventory, control the personnel budget and expenses.
• Ensure maintenance of equipment, safe operations and customer care quality.
• Perform profit/loss analyses and respond to operational issues as they arise.
