Job summary

SWCAP seeks a Center Coordinator to lead, mentor, and support teaching staff, ensuring classrooms provide high-quality early education for children and families. This leadership role oversees Muscoda and Richland Center Head Start sites and drives program excellence.

The role prioritizes coaching, curriculum oversight, and collaboration with families to promote school readiness and strong teamwork across sites.

Qualifications

  • Three years of experience teaching in an early childhood or related setting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • CPR/AED knowledge and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
  • Valid driver\'s license, reliable transportation, and a good driving record.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, physical examination, and Policy Council approval.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and support teachers and classroom staff.
  • Monitor classrooms to ensure safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environments.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and ongoing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Ensure curriculum, assessments, and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations and support continuous quality improvement.
  • Partner with families to support children\'s growth, transitions, and school readiness.
  • Coordinate staff meetings, assist with substitute coverage, and oversee classroom operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, licensing regulations, and agency policies.
  • Complete staff evaluations, approve timesheets, and assist with employee performance management.
  • Support recruitment efforts to maintain full program enrollment and participate in community and family engagement activities.

As a Center Coordinator, you'll have the opportunity to lead, mentor, and support teaching staff while helping ensure our classrooms provide exceptional care and education for children and families. This position is responsible for supervision of both our Muscoda and Richland Center Head Start sites. Key Responsibilities:

Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred; applicants without an ECE degree must have completed qualifying early childhood coursework.
  • Minimum of three years of experience teaching in an early childhood or related educational setting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • CPR/AED knowledge and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
  • Valid driver\'s license, reliable transportation, and a good driving record.

Preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience, including coaching and evaluating staff.
  • Experience with conflict resolution and behavior management.
  • Experience working in Head Start or another early childhood education program.

Physical y Requirements

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift children weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to actively supervise children and respond quickly in emergency situations.
  • Use computers and standard office equipment.
  • Work in classroom environments with moderate to high noise levels and occasional strong odors.
  • Occasional travel to program sites, meetings, and training events may be required.
