Position: Child Development Coordinator
Starting Salary: $47,514.83
Responsibilities
- Monitor Child Development, Disabilities, Nutrition, and Wellness programs including case reviews, classroom observations, child file reviews, in‑house staffing, monthly CLASS reviews, child and classroom transitions, case notes, and coordination of services while maintaining confidentiality of child and family. Perform classroom teacher duties as necessary.
- Provide direct supervision to Classroom Teachers and/or Assistant Teachers and conduct performance appraisals with coordination and/or direct technical assistance.
- Recruit and train volunteers for screening, assessments, home visits, parent/teacher conferences, lesson planning, individualization, referrals of children with potential disabilities, and other assigned tasks.
- Plan and coordinate First Aid, Infant/Child CPR, Bloodborne Pathogen/Universal Precautions, Shaken Baby Syndrome, and Child Abuse/Neglect trainings for staff, parents, and volunteers.
- Maintain database management system for Head Start Services in child development, disabilities, and mental health.
- Provide training and technical assistance in Child Development, Disabilities, Mental Health, Nutrition, and transition services, ensuring coordination of services to children among staff.
- Monitor procedures for case reviews, health emergencies, injury/accident prevention, reporting (including to parents), and follow‑up; develop individualization/modifications for children with special needs.
- Assist with developing Professional Development Plans using T&TA forms, observations, CLASS scores, and data review.
- Coordinate, plan, and ensure staff and volunteers receive content area and agency training during new employee orientation before assuming duties.
- Monitor and track classroom teachers for compliance with job duties, including screenings/assessments, home visits, conferences, individualization, lesson plans, child outcomes, case notes, curricula, and Head Start performance standards.
- Ensure required documentation, classroom tracking systems, reports, and referrals are completed accurately and submitted to Regional staff on time.
- Oversee the implementation of Disabilities and Child Food and Adult Care Program (CACFP) policies and procedures, including family‑style meal services, menus, meal schedules, and classroom nutritional activities.
- Coordinate with the Center Manager to assess and implement Disabilities & Mental Wellness services, recruit children and families, and support classroom teachers in early care and education services per Head Start Standards, licensing mandates, and program policies.
- Ensure IEP/IFSP goals are implemented and tracked with teaching staff.
- Coordinate health, disability, pregnant women and/or newborns home visits with Family Services and teaching staff to maximize efficiency.
- Ensure children are always supervised and staff‑child ratios are maintained in each classroom.
- Enforce Active Supervision procedures, including checking and securing buses, loading, and unloading.
- Determine staff classroom teaching assignments and required space based on performance standards and licensing regulations in consultation with the Center Manager.
- Co‑manage the loading and unloading of all children and bus security in the morning and/or afternoon.
- Assist in executing and managing the Center budget, including collection and processing of non‑federal shared (in‑kind) funds with required documentation for Child Development and Health per UMOS policy.
- Review and approve lesson plans, home visits, and field trips, ensuring activities are individualized to reflect needs and School Readiness goals.
- Attend Center and Regional staff meetings, case reviews, trainings, open houses, and other program activities as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least 21 years of age.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
- Minimum of two years of classroom experience, or a combination of one year of teaching and one year of supervisory experience.
- Experience in presentation/training and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (oral and written) preferred.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and adequate insurance.

Additional Eligibility Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check, a physical exam and TB screening within 30 days of employment, and required training (Shaken Baby Training & SIDS, Fire Extinguisher Training, Infant/Child CPR and First Aid). Annual continuing education hours are required to meet state and federal standards. Registration with the State Child Care Registry (WI, MO, or AR) must occur within 30 days of employment.
