Job summary

Oregon Child Development Coalition (OCDC) seeks dedicated center staff to support classroom and administrative duties across multiple roles in Salem, VA. You will assist teachers with activities, maintain safe, healthy environments, and help with meals, bus supervision, and custodial tasks.

This position emphasizes teamwork, confidentiality, and adherence to safety standards while supporting Head Start services for children and families locally.

Responsibilities

• Assists center staff in carrying out various duties at the center as assigned, in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, Day Care Licensing Regulations, USDA, and other applicable standards.
• Assists with record keeping as assigned.
• Assists with custodial duties of the classroom, playground supervision, and sick room duties as directed.
• Performs duties of Bus Assistant: helps provide safe transportation, ensures children are seated and using seat belts or appropriate car seats.
• Performs duties of Cook Assistant: assists in preparing healthful meals and snacks, maintains kitchen and storage areas in a safe, clean condition.
• Performs custodial duties of the center: laundry, cleaning floors, bathrooms, and replenishing supplies.
• Contributes to team effort by positive communication with staff, parents, and children and attending required meetings.
