Job summary

Service Corporation International in Illinois is seeking a Cemetery Groundskeeper to maintain lawn, grave sites, and support interments to serve families with dignity.

Responsibilities include tool operation, equipment maintenance, setting up chapels, and ensuring safety and compliance. Education of high school level and prior experience are preferred; the position offers hourly pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 months of relevant experience.
• Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Cuts grass and maintains lawn around chapel and graveside.
• Clears debris and maintains drives and walkways, including snow removal.
• Erects tents and arranges chairs for graveside ceremonies.
• Assists with openings/closings for interments, entombments and inurnments.
• Arranges chapel for services.
• Operates backhoe under supervision to dig graves without damage.
• Installs grave markers and memorials; maintains cemetery features.
• Maintains and repairs cemetery features and equipment.
• Cleans and services equipment and vehicles; general facility upkeep.
• Observe safety rules and OSHA guidelines.
