Job summary

SCI Hampstead is hiring a Cemetery Groundskeeper to maintain lawns, trim around markers, mow, lay sod, and prepare grave sites for interments and entombments. Under supervision, you may operate a backhoe to dig graves and install crypt faces, ensuring safety and compliance with OSHA guidelines.

You will also arrange chapel setups, assist with openings and closings, manage equipment maintenance, and perform minor repairs.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent or relevant work experience.
• Minimum 6 months of relevant experience.
• Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment including lawn mower, weed trimmer, and backhoe.
• Ability to lift up to 150 lbs with equipment assistance.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Cuts grass, maintains lawn, trims around trees, walkways and memorial markers.
• Clears debris and maintains drives and walkways, snow removal as needed.
• Erects tents and arranges chairs for graveside ceremonies.
• Assists with openings/closings for interments and entombments.
• Arranges chapel for services and prepares crypts for entombments.
• Operates backhoe under supervision to dig graves.
• Installs grave markers and bronze memorials.
• Maintains and repairs cemetery features and equipment.
• Maintains vehicles and performs minor repairs and painting.
• Observe safety rules and comply with regulations incl OSHA.
