Job summary

SCI seeks a Cemetery Maintenance Associate in Sandston, VA to maintain lawns, markers and chapel areas with care and respect. You will prepare chapels for services and assist with interments.

The role involves operating hand-held tools, handling grave openings, and following safety guidelines. A high school diploma and 6 months of experience are preferred; ability to lift up to 150 lbs with assistance is important.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent or relevant work experience.
• Experience with grounds maintenance and cemetery tasks is a plus.
• Ability to safely operate manual tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Cuts grass, maintains lawn, trims around trees and markers.
• Clears debris and maintains drives and walkways; snow removal as needed.
• Erects tents, canopies and arranges chairs for graveside ceremonies.
• Assists with setup for openings and closings for interments.
• Arranges chapel for services.
• Prepares crypts for entombments.
• Operates backhoe under supervision to dig graves.
• Installs grave markers and memorials; maintains cemetery features.
• Maintains and repairs equipment and vehicles.
• Observe safety rules and comply with OSHA and regulations.
