Job summary

SCI is seeking a Grounds & Facilites Supervisor to oversee the upkeep of cemetery and funeral locations. You will lead the grounds staff, organize burial site prep, and ensure memorials and crypts are maintained with safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires high school education or equivalent, plus experience in the funeral industry is a plus. You will operate a range of hand-held tools and larger equipment, and coordinate with managers to meet client family needs.

Qualifications

• Education: High school education or equivalent or relevant work experience.
• Experience: Funeral industry experience would also be a plus.
• Operate hand-held tools and equipment, including shovel, pick, rake, sledgehammer, lawn mower, weed trimmer, and leaf blower.
• Operate larger mechanical equipment, including dump trucks, riding mowers, tractors, and brush hogs (under supervision, can operate a backhoe).
• Ability to accurately use measuring devices (i.e., tape measure, yard stick, etc.).
• Ability to communicate effectively with fellow associates, contractor personnel, and client families.

Responsibilities

• Organize and supervise the grounds staff daily, including grave site layout and prep for burials.
• Recruit and manage performance, and discharge grounds staff when necessary.
• Fill roles in grounds keeping / facilities maintenance as needed.
• Verify locations of all interments and ensure accuracy.
• Ensure sites are prepared for services per client families’ wishes.
• Train and supervise grounds crew.
• Maintain memorials and crypts.
• Ensure uniforms and appearance reflect well to clients.
• Schedule work with Location Manager and Office Manager.
• Maintain safe working environment and comply with OSHA and regulations.
• Maintain inventories of equipment, supplies, and merchandise.
• Purchase safety equipment and supplies.
• Ensure equipment is cleaned and maintained.
