Job summary

Nueces County seeks a maintenance worker to perform general maintenance and service of the Veterans Cemetery, including grounds, buildings, and infrastructure. The role requires assisting burial operations and operating site equipment to keep the cemetery functional and well-maintained.

Responsibilities include maintaining records, ensuring safety, and following directions for disaster and emergency responses as required by supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus one year of maintenance and repair experience.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered for current Nueces County employees only.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and communicate with the public.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and service of the Veterans Cemetery grounds, buildings, and infrastructure elements.
• Assist in burial preparation, opening and closing of in-ground burials, and transportation of remains.
• Operate and maintain small engines, power equipment, and vehicles used on site.
• Record daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance logs and reports.
