Job summary

Mortenson Construction in Nebraska is seeking a Cement Mason Apprentice to learn while assisting journeymen masons in constructing or repairing walls, partitions, and other structures.

You will spread concrete, mix cement, finish surfaces, and help maintain a safe, productive worksite while building skills in a growing trades program.

This role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and the ability to read basic instructions; prior construction exposure is helpful, but training is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Previous construction experience preferred
• Enrolled in Apprentice Aptitude Program
• Strong teamwork, positive attitude, customer service and detail orientation
• Ability to read and interpret safety regulations and manuals; basic math; active listening and communication
• Lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Not eligible for visa sponsorship in this role

Responsibilities

• Spread concrete to specified depth and workable consistency
• Mix cement
• Level, smooth, and shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete
• Finish concrete surfaces using power trowel or by hand with abrasive stone
• Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces
• Patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound
• Mold expansion joints and edges
• Clean work area and restock supplies as necessary
• Work with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned
